- Oversee daily operations of the dairy farm, including managing herd health, milk production, and milk quality and farm employees.
- Coordinate and supervise the work of farm staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and implement herd management protocols, including breeding, calving, and vaccination schedules.
- Monitor and maintain herd records, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
- Manage feed inventory and formulate balanced rations to optimize cow health and milk production.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the milking parlor, barns, and other farm facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed to ensure smooth operation of the dairy farm.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both animals and employees.
Requirements:
- Mechanical knowledge and experience with heavy equipment operation.
- Strong understanding of dairy farming practices, including animal husbandry and care.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery, power tools, and other equipment.
- Knowledge of greenhouse operations for growing feed crops is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and delegate tasks.
- Physical stamina to work long hours in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to be on-call for emergencies or unexpected situations.
